I’ve been noticing a trend lately, where my various personal and professional lives are bleeding into one another in awkward and uncomfortable ways. I’ve got several academic papers undergoing conference review at the moment, papers that are incredibly important to my grad student persona. At the same time I’m refocusing on game dev as I wrap up an update to Levelheaded and start work on a new project. Up until now I’ve been using my personal site for all of these things: it hosts the research data for my papers and the about pages for my LD- and jam-type games, plus various odds and ends that don’t really have a home, but need to be on the internet somewhere. Last week, a DNS goof on my part meant that all the traffic from one audience (conference reviewers) got redirected to the wrong page (the Levelheaded promo site).
Not good.
So I’m setting up this as a space where I can focus on game development, Ludum Dare and otherwise. I’m pretty new to Movable Type (the publishing system that both this and Texas Expat are built on), so I expect to be hacking on this site regularly since it doesn’t quite do what I want yet. I guess we’ll see how this goes…
